Alcoeur Gardens, NJ’s Premiere Assisted Living Specializing in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, periodically hosts Memory Screenings for those in our local communities, who may not have a concern right now, but who wants to see how their memory is now and for future comparisons.

Memory screenings make sense for anyone concerned about memory loss or believe they may be at risk due to a family history of Alzheimer's disease or a related illness.

At Alcoeur Gardens we utilize the MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination) a tool that can be used to systematically and thoroughly to assess the cognitive function of anyone being screened.

All 11 questions measure five areas of cognitive ability including orientation, registration, attention, calculation, recall and language. The MMSE takes only 5-10 minutes to take and is best used repeatedly and routinely to assess mental status.

This is a very basic tool that is efficient in separating an individual with cognitive impairment from someone without impairment.

Check out our blog and Face Book page for schedule of events to come including future memory screenings.
